WinX DVD Ripper is a free DVD movie ripper for Windows. There is also another version of this ripper, WinX DVD Ripper Platinum, which, although not free, has many interesting features.
The free version, however, is fully functional and provides an excellent way of ripping DVD movies.
Graphically, the application is a single-window ripper. At the top of the screen there are the buttons that you use to tell WinX DVD Ripper where to get the movies from. You can rip an actual DVD disk or you can use this app to convert previously ripped files (VOB) to any of the supported formats At the bottom of the application there are 7 tabs. Each one of those tabs specifies, what format you are converting to. There is support for AVI, MPEG, MP4, WMV, MOV, and FLV. Within each of those tabs, you can change the actual codec used for encoding. The seventh tab allows you to rip your DVD to an Audio file; to MP3 more specifically.
WinX DVD Ripper provides just the necessary. The developers sell a Platinum edition that they want you to buy. So, giving you just a feature-limited app, they kind of make you want to buy the more complete solution. If you are simply using it to rip a few movies once in a while, and you don't really need it to copy highly protected movies, then you don't really need the paid app.
Of course, you can still rip the whole movies. You can choose an audio track and even embed a subtitle track on your movie. |
